This programme is the fusion of science and technology that caters to the best possible outcome for the human society. Biotechnology offers a wide perspective ranging from production of valuable substances, waste management, and drug designing through advanced gene therapy. Moreover, the programme provides knowledge of medicine by engaging modern molecular biology, microbiology, implementation of instrumentation and data analysis. Overall, this course develops both professional and technical skills among students through practical and theoretical knowledge considering legal as well as ethical aspects.

Entry Requirements
In order to be eligible candidates should have fulfilled the relevant minimum qualifications indicated under one of the following three categories.
Category (1)
(a) Sri Lankan GCE AL: A minimum of 3 "S" passes in the approved AL subjects including Biology and Chemistry
OR
(b) Cambridge/Edexcel AL: A minimum of 3 "E" passes including Biology and Chemistry.
OR
(c) Sat for GCE AL in Biosystems Technology stream including Biosystems Technology and Science for Technology plus successful completion of Lincoln Foundation in Science (10 months)
Category (2)
Those without 3 AL passes as indicated in category (1) (a) OR (1)(b) but sat for AL examination in Biology stream AND successful completion of Lincoln Foundation in Science (12 months)
Category (3)
GCE OL 6 passes including Maths and successful completion of Lincoln Foundation in Science (12 months)

Pearson Higher National Diploma/SQA Advanced Diploma or any other Diploma in relevant field to be considered on case by case basis in consultation with Lincoln University
